UKActive — together achieving more
Serving the whole sector
ukactive serves over 4,000 members and partners across the public, private and third sectors — from multinational giants to local voluntary community groups — through partnerships, campaigning and membership services.
The mission
A long-standing vision to get more people, more active, more often, improving the health of the nation by promoting active lifestyles and creating the conditions for the sector to grow.
The practical side of membership
Beyond the lobbying, there are parts of ukactive an independent club uses week to week. The licensing team helps operators get the legal rights in place for playing music and showing film or TV in a facility — a common gap in small gyms, and an expensive one when it gets found. The standards work covers regulation and compliance guidance, and the Research Institute publishes sector research, consumer studies and operator benchmarking you can hold your own numbers up against.
National Fitness Day and the member networks
ukactive runs National Fitness Day, which gives any club a ready-made reason to open the doors, put on a free session and get local coverage without inventing a campaign from scratch. There are also member networks, webinars and awards evenings — worth more to a single-site owner than they sound, because they are one of the few places you will meet people running the same size business with the same problems. Membership is open to independents, not only chains and trusts.
4,000+ members and partners across public, private and third-sector fitness, working to get more people active, more often.
