National Fitness Awards
Now in their tenth year, recognising achievement and excellence in all corners of the fitness industry
Backing independent owners
ClubRight has proudly sponsored the 'Regional Gym of South' award since 2017, recognising the independent fitness businesses that are the backbone of the UK fitness industry.
Open to independents, not just chains
The awards are deliberately broad — a single-site independent is judged alongside leisure trusts and national chains, and there are separate regional categories for the North, the South, the Midlands and Wales, and Scotland and Northern Ireland. Beyond region there are categories for boutique studios, strength gyms, functional gyms, ladies-only clubs, outdoor and aquatic facilities, newcomers, personal trainers and individual member achievement. If you run a small club and assume this isn't aimed at you, the category list says otherwise.
How the judging works
Entry is a submission through the awards site, but it doesn't end there. Finalists get a visit from the awards team, who look round the facility and talk to staff and members before writing it up for an expert judging panel. That's a useful exercise even if you don't win — an outsider walking your floor and asking your members what they think is feedback most clubs never get. The ceremony itself is a red-carpet evening at The Athena in Leicester.
ClubRight has sponsored the Regional Gym of the South category for around 5 years, in an awards programme now in its tenth year, organised by Script Events and WorkOut Magazine.
