Archon
Experience the first-ever fitness league with the AFL. Assemble squads, compete in a season-long challenge, and send your best 8 to Gymshark's Lifting Club to fight for the championship trophy.
Fitness, gamified
The AFL is designed to boost participation, retention and engagement among gym members and PT clients — building a committed community through squad formation and friendly competition.
Inclusive by design
A golf-like handicap system means everyone can compete regardless of age, weight, height or sex — no categories needed, just an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, whether lifting weights, running or on the ski erg.
The Six rating, explained
The league now sits alongside The Six, Archon's rating app built with Gymshark. Members complete eight tests spanning strength, power, speed, capacity, endurance and conditioning, using familiar kit — the bench, the bar, the rower, the ski erg and the treadmill. The app turns the results into a single number, adjusted for age, height, weight and sex, so a fifty-year-old and a twenty-four-year-old can be compared fairly. Members can record their attempts in the app, see where they are weakest and share a rating card.
Leagues for gyms and universities
Archon also runs the Gym Fitness League and the University Fitness League — the same idea applied to whole sites rather than individuals. Gyms enter teams and are ranked against other gyms, which gives a club something to rally members around beyond a January challenge. The app itself is free for members to download, so you can test the appetite before committing to a season. Ratings and leaderboards also give staff something concrete to talk to members about on the floor.
Members form squads and compete season-long, with a handicap system for fair competition across ages and abilities — the season finale is held at Gymshark's Lifting Club.
