Cards-X

Seamless access control systems integrating turnstiles, membership cards, and fob readers for gyms and health clubs

Key benefits
Print and reprint member cards in minutes
Official UK and Ireland distributor for SwiftPro
Blanks and fobs in MIFARE, HID, Paxton and Salto
Card design software and consumables in one place
Recyclable and biodegradable card options

The challenge

Gyms and health clubs needed a reliable way to control access — letting authorised members in smoothly at peak times, while cutting the manual check-ins that ate into staff time.

The solution

Cards-X installs bi-directional turnstiles integrated with membership cards and fob readers, handling consultation, design, installation, integration with existing membership systems, and staff training.

The outcome

Quick, secure entry for members, less manual checking for staff, enhanced security, and full usage reporting — backed by ongoing technical support and maintenance.

Printing member cards on site

Cards-X supplies the kit for printing plastic cards yourself: printers, blank cards, ribbons and the design software to lay them out. For a club that means handing a new member their card the day they join rather than waiting on a print run, and replacing a lost one in a couple of minutes. They are the official UK and Ireland distributor for SwiftPro and also stock Entrust, Zebra, Matica and Javelin printers, so the range runs from a few hundred cards a year up to high volume.

Blanks, ribbons and access cards

Alongside printers they carry the things that run out: ribbons, cleaning kits, laminates and blank PVC cards in plain, magnetic stripe and biodegradable versions. On the access side they stock cards and fobs in the MIFARE, HID, Paxton and Salto formats, plus readers and keypads. If your entry system already uses one of those formats, buying blanks direct is usually cheaper than going back through whoever installed it.

Who they usually supply

Most of their work is accreditation and ID for events, corporate sites, education and healthcare, including large venues and festivals, with named customers such as Microsoft, DPD and the DP World Tour. That is a different world from an independent gym, but the products are the same ones a club needs. The accessories range covers holders, lanyards and badge reels, with recyclable and biodegradable options if that matters to you.

FAQ

Cards-X and ClubRight

Does Cards-X integrate with ClubRight?
Not directly. Cards-X is a supplier ClubRight works with and recommends, rather than a system that passes data back and forth with the platform. Only a small number of ClubRight Connect partners are direct integrations, and their pages say so explicitly. If that distinction matters to what you’re planning — particularly with hardware — ask before you order.
What does Cards-X do?
Turnstile access control using membership cards.
Do I have to use Cards-X to use ClubRight?
No. Nothing in the ClubRight Connect directory is a requirement and nothing is tied to your account. Use your own supplier if you already have one — the directory exists to save you the research, not to steer you.
Does ClubRight charge extra for this?
No — ClubRight doesn’t add a fee for a partner being listed or connected. Whatever Cards-X charges for their own product is between you and them. Nobody pays to appear in this directory.
