ClubRight congratulates all the finalists for the National Fitness Awards 2017, and is proud to be sponsoring the Regional Gym of the South award.
ClubRight would like to send big congratulations to all the finalists for the National Fitness Awards 2017. We're sponsoring the Regional Gym of the South award, and we look forward to seeing you at the ceremony.
Why we back an independent gym award
ClubRight was founded by people who ran gyms before they wrote software, and the clubs on the platform are overwhelmingly owner-operated: one site, one person wearing every hat, often coaching on the floor in the morning and doing the books at ten at night.
Those businesses rarely get a stage. Chains have marketing departments and awards budgets; an independent gym has an owner who is already doing five jobs. An award night that puts a regional gym in front of the industry is worth supporting for that reason alone.
What the good ones have in common
Across roughly 1,000 UK and Irish clubs, six in ten grow their membership, 59.2% of 887 clubs measured. The typical growing club adds 19.3% more members, and 29% of them double. For gyms specifically, the typical growing site adds 138 members in a year.
The clubs at the top of that range are not usually the ones with the newest equipment. They are the ones who know, on any given Tuesday, who has stopped turning up, whose payment failed last week, and who is two sessions away from cancelling, and who act on it before the member is gone. That is a reporting and follow-up habit far more than it is a facilities one.
Congratulations again
To every finalist: putting a club in front of a judging panel is a job on top of the job. Good luck on the night. If you want to see what the clubs doing this well look like from the inside, our customer stories have the numbers behind them.
