A new gym in the middle of a pandemic
Founded by Louis Dykes, The Zone Callington opened its doors in August 2020 — right in the middle of COVID-19. The mission was clear: provide the local area with an affordable, non-intimidating, judgement-free fitness environment. But launching a new business during a pandemic meant getting the right systems in place from day one.
Katie Stephens needed software to store member information, track sales, handle payments and manage 24-hour access codes. It had to be easy to use — for staff and members alike — and it needed to feel like another member of the team.
“ClubRight was the first club software we looked at and it’s safe to say I didn’t bother looking at any other solutions. After the initial demo, I had total confidence it would give us everything we need.”— Katie Stephens, The Zone Callington
Set up with hands-on support
Katie is upfront about not being a natural with technology. The detailed setup session over Zoom made all the difference — the ClubRight team walked her through everything and were always a message away for follow-up questions. They even arranged a virtual check-up to make sure the gym was getting the most out of the system.
Everything visible at a glance
Now Katie can access every member detail from her phone. The dashboard shows notifications, messages, tasks, footfall and more — all in one place. Payments integrate seamlessly with Direct Debit collection, so it’s immediately clear when a member needs to update their details or renew an expired membership.
For a 24-hour gym, access control is critical. If a membership has expired, that member can’t get in — no manual checking required. Katie can see when people are in the gym, which is especially useful during evening hours.
“I can log in at any time and see everything I need immediately on the Dashboard: notifications, messages, tasks, footfall and so much more — it’s so powerful.”— Katie Stephens, The Zone Callington
Survived two lockdowns — with ClubRight’s help
Opening during a pandemic was challenging enough. Then came two more lockdowns while the gym was still finding its feet. ClubRight supported The Zone through every one — releasing a Zoom integration for virtual classes and a bulk-freeze option to manage memberships during closures.
Members love the app too. They can view offers, manage their memberships, update their own details and book classes — all without needing to call or visit reception.
“I love everything about ClubRight and I can honestly say I don’t think we could find a better software company to help us run our successful gym.”— Katie Stephens, The Zone Callington
